This video highlights day trading a common volume profile trade on the ES contract – 2 minute chart. The video is about 13 minutes long – at one point I mention it’s like watching paint dry – lol – you know you’ve been there with the ES in particular – it’s no CL for sure. But, regardless of the instrument, when you approach an area of interest and your trade sets up – “Hello” as they say – you have to take the trade and apply the rules that your experience and time in the market have shown turn an entry into a profit. The video highlights key concepts of volume profile trading especially as it relates to profit targets – we got our 3rd standard deviation and then if you take a look at the ES on the day in question – immediate turn around and long the rest of the day. Does it always work out so perfectly? Not for any of us – but have a plan – stick to it – and enjoy the rewards.
By the way, the entry is a couple minutes in the video and the first profit target is around 10 minutes in, although in real time it was more than that (I paused the video) and the final target is right at the end where you get to see me wonder what happened things happened so quickly. Yes, I am human! lol This PS info in case you want to drag the slider on the video forward to the action. Enjoy!
You might notice at the very bottom of the video a TradeStation indicator I coded for volume profile trades that calculates exactly how many lots as a professional you can enter the market with and be in line with your risk parameters. It is labelled v_vp_posizer. For instance, if you want to risk only $500 on a trade – the math is done bar by bar so you can focus on what you do best – TRADE! Do you position size?
